ReachU is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dept.1 Solutions which develops custom mobile applications to enhance digital enablement of non-profit organizations.
ReachU has been working with Lost&Found since 2022 to refine a vision for a mobile application which improves college students' access to mental health resources on campus, delivers them relevant and research-backed content about their mental health, and connects them to a peer support network on their campus.
During that time, the respective teams have participated in an extensive effort to document Lost&Found's processes for delivering on-campus programs, communicating with students, and handling data. For each of these components, high fidelity mockups were developed to begin to envision how the programs could be brought to life digitally. This work was conducted almost exclusively by Dylan Bassett in collaboration with various stakeholders from Lost&Found and ultimately developed by ReachU's cofounding engineers, Chase Johnson and Chris Patterson - who's contributions were invaluable to the realization of the project.
In January of 2024, ReachU and Lost&Found launched the first pilot of the mobile application at South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota.
Lost&Found Executive Director, Erik Muckey had the following to say about ReachU:
In partnership with ReachU... Lost&Found provides a companion mobile application that provides digitally-enabled experiences for the Peer2Peer Mentorship program. Additionally, ReachU provides self-driven resilience education experiences (including Lost&Found’s Let’s Talk About Mental Health Guide content) and a self-driven check-in monitor called “Battery Checks” that provides users with a consistent measurement tool for personal resilience progress and offers notifications when “battery” is consistently low—tied back to self-driven education tools and opportunities to connect with a mentor or counseling services.
